Heyday Cafe: heydayfront

Family-owned since 2007, the Heyday Cafe is a relaxed, friendly gathering place for locals as well as visitors. They have a well crafted menu raging from Hawaiian ahi poke, lobster bisque, chicken curry Salad and Salmon salad. They have an extensive wine selection. This is a great choice for lunch or dinner. They have another restaurant, “The Independent” at the far east end of Main Street.

History is as big a part of the experience as the food. Originally known as the “Three Mile House”, it was built in 1853 over the Blue Lead Mine.
The Smith Flat House still has the old time “Gold Rush” feel. In the basement restaurant you can peer down into the mine shaft which produced several million dollars in gold. They have the best outdoor dining in Placerville, The outdoor patio is open on a seasonal basis.
